Bible Study
To help you grow spiritually and in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ, High Desert UMC is offering the following Bible Studies in 2024. Please join us for one of the following studies:
- Sunday 10 am: Studying the Book of Revelation. Meets in the classroom and is led by Tony Smith. (Not meeting 4/20 & 4/27)
- Monday 10:30 am: Studying Pentecost. Meets in the classroom and is led by Marie Donat.
- Wednesday 10:30 am: Studying Our Favorite Hymns. Meets in the classroom and is led by John Kottenbrook.
- Wednesday 5:30 pm: Studying 24 Hours That Changed the World in the sanctuary.
- Fairwinds: Tony Smith leads a class at Fairwinds on Tuesday.
- Coming Soon: May 21st - 25th Wednesdays 10:00 am: Max Lucado 6 Week Video Series. Led by Francie Larsen.
Remote Studies:
- Email Bible Study: Each month an email is distributed from Tony Smith on a chapter from the Book of Isaiah. You can also participate in one of Tony's other email studies on Daniel, the Gospel of John, or Revelation. You can participate in one of these email Bible studies by sending an email to coraleno@aol.com and making a request.
- Bible Study Blog: You can access the Bible Study blog by clicking here. Tony posts a new study each Month. The current study is the book of Isaiah.

Hearing inLOOP System
High Desert UMC installed a telecoil hearing aid loop under the carpet in the outer aisles, center aisle and across the front and back aisles. The purpose of this system is to enhance the worship experience of those who wear hearing aids.
The telecoil, a small wire coiled around a rod located inside your hearing aids, works as an antenna to pick up magnetic signals and streams them as sound into your hearing aid. With this “T-setting,” your hearing aid can stream the sound of the speaker’s voice or the music directly into your ears from the microphones – without any pesky background noises.
Contact your hearing aid specialist to help determine if you have the telecoil function, and if so, to add this setting to your settings.
Transportation Assistance
Need a ride to and from service? High Desert UMC has a bus ministry that will pick you up and drop you off.
If you need a ride to church please call the church office at 505-891-4206. To schedule a ride on the church bus, please call Jeff Pratt at 505-780-2611.
The bus is also available for special fellowship outings during the week.

About Us
Reuben Thomas - Pastor
Rev. Thomas comes to High Desert UMC after serving for 6 years at St. Paul's UMC in Socorro, NM. Prior to that appointment, he served seven years at First UMC in Grants and 3 years as associate pastor at St. Stephen's UMC in Albuquerque. Reuben is a second career pastor having worked for thirty-one years for the Federal Highway Administration. He is a graduate of Clemson University with degrees in Civil Engineering and, following retirement from the Federal Government, he completed the required course of study at Perkins Theological Seminary at Southern Methodist University to become a licensed pastor. The primary focus of Reuben's ministry are biblical preaching and teaching, hospitality, missions, spiritual growth and a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
