Homemade Harvest Vegetable Soup
One of the outreach programs of High Desert UMC is to prepare and serve a meal to the homeless community in Albuquerque once every three months at the Central United Methodist Church.
A menu is prepared, the necessary food items are collected and then we go the the church and prepare the meal, then portion it out into portable containers to be passed out to each person that comes in need of a meal.
The most recent meal was served on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Dave and I (Sue), along with Steve and Gloria Lamoreux and Jeff Pratt went to prepare and serve the meal; which included: homemade Harvest Vegetable Soup, a Sloppy Joe Sandwich, Macaroni Salad, and cookies. Also each person received a "TO GO" bag so that they can have nourishment later in the day. This time the bag included two hard boiled eggs, a granola bar, a banana, an orange, and a bottle of juice.
Our meals are made possible because of generous donations of either food or monetary donations.
If you are interested in becoming involved with this ministry, either by food donations or a monetary donation or helping prepare the meal, please speak with Dave or Sue Duranty (contact information can be found in the church directory).
